eBay is a terrific place to stock your office
When we were setting up Shelly's office, we were faced with the problem of getting equipment for an engineering office, and some of that stuff is pretty expensive. We found that eBay, even with shipping, beat most of the used office-supply places for products. On eBay, we've so far found a large-format plotter, a blueline machine, an E-size paper cutter, a plastic spiral notebook punch, and innumerable smaller items for very good prices. We've not had a problem getting items shipped (except for the plotter, which we picked up in Dallas), and the folks selling larger items tend to be more honest than the folks selling little trinkets.
Best of all, some of the stuff, like the plotter and the blueline machine, paid for themselves within months when compared to the cost of sending out files to plotting and blueline services.
So if you're looking for some larger office equipment, you could probably do worse than to check 'em out. Shelly's looking at getting her surveying license eventually, and we'll probably end up buying surveying equipment out there.
