Searching for games that allow an "AI match".

Hi, I thought this might be a good place to ask; I am looking for a set of games that will allow me to put two computers up against each other. For instance, a racing game that allows you to race over a network connection, but while setting both machines to AI driver rather than human. I''m asking this, because I want to write an article comparing an Athlon and a P4 this way; mind you, I''m well aware this doesnt say a thing about the performance of either system, its just for fun. The only game I see where actual computer performance would matter is a chess match. So, does anyone know a flightsim, racing game, strategy game or FPS that I could set up this way ? Most games I''ve looked at do not allow this, since it would enable you to "cheat" by letting the AI play for you. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, P4man

Some people have written bots for Counter-Strike (Half Life).

Bots here

Since I''ve never used them, I can''t tell you how useful they would be for what you want.

Any WinBoard compatible Chess engine will allow computer-vs-computer chess play.

I think there might be bots available for XPilot (it''s a free multiplayer space fighting game). If there are, this game would probably work very well for you.

Best of luck,
Will

Not perfect, but certainly interesting:

You can get "client-side" bots for Quake, Quake 2 and Unreal that will connect from a client machine to a server machine and play deathmatch against real players, other client-side bots or server-side bots.
Most of these client-side bots can play autonamously or allow a human to control aiming and firing.
Note that client-side bots are considered cheaters so don''t connect to public servers ...
