Patchdef2? Is that Q3 specific?

Hi, I would like to know if Patchdef2, something that GTKRadiant generates as part of its .map files is somehow q3 specific. I''m trying to use the torque engine, converting the .map to .dif, but the converter supplied with torque can only one form of statements when parsing q3 maps. It does not read patchdef2 statements. Is the data format for these patchdef2 statements easy to convert to regular format? Is there another editor that doesn''t save maps with patchdef2''s? Is there an option in GTKRadiant to save without patchdef2''s? Thanks!
