MUD scripting language for MMORPGs?

I was talking to a friend the other day, and we started reminiscing about playing MUDs. I was talking to him about the MMORPG my guys are working on. As we brainstormed about a way to make things run faster, we both hit upon the idea of tracking/running NPCs. Does anyone have any experience? Anyone have any thoughts on this idea? Just brainstorming. Thanks. Alfred Norris, VoodooFusion Studios Team Lead, CONFLICT:Omega

I''m not sure what your actual question is...

What do you mean by ''tracking/running NPCs''?
What sort of ''experience'' are you asking about?
And in asking for thoughts on ''this idea'', what exactly is the idea in question?
