how to take a screenshot?

Does anyone know how i could take a screenshot (meaning get the content of the color buffer and the save it in a bitmap on the HDD)?

an easy way is to press the print screen key and control-c in that order. then go into paint and paste it.

i think the site with the OpenGL Tutorial downloads (the exes) has a way to do targa screenshots
