Personally, for MIDI, I use a little prog called PowerTrax. Awesome little program, extremely inexpensive ($30, if I remember correctly), and loaded w/features. It''s from a company called PPG. Really awesome software.

I use Midisoft Studio 6 for midi files and Cakewalk Home Studio for digital audio.
I really like Midisoft Studio and it''s relatively inexpensive (I paid $50.)

HammerHead Rhythm Studio. It''s freeware and it makes WAV files, it''s portable, small, and incredibly wicked.
