Hi there All you mighty fine prgrammers ( hehehe ) wicked laugh I am currently flipping through Andre Lamothes latest book, you all know what it is ( I am sick of typing out the title ) Does anyone know if one HAS to lock a surface in VB to render and stuff ???? I have never had to lock surfaces before, does this just apply to C++ ???? Thanks Erick

If you read the book line by line, it says that locking the surface lets you read/write from it.

When the surface is locked, DirectDraw won''t do anything with it until it is unlocked.

Blt or BltFast won''t work if the surface is locked. If you wan''t to write your own blitting routines and edit the surface without ddraw, you have to lock it.

I hope I''ve made myself clear, I''m not best in the world explaining stuff.
I seeeee

Cool K Thanks

Erick
