Old strategy game design question
I''m curious if anybody has tried implementing a strategy game in the style of the old SSI hex-based strategy games? It''s a common way of doing things in paper war games and I''m trying to figure out the "best" way to implement a hex-based wargame on the computer. Mostly I''m curious what kind of data structures and class designs might have been used to build such a game?
I''m mostly a C++ programmer, so I''m thinking in terms of classes & the STL, but I''m interested in hearing what other people who''ve tried this game genre have done with their designs?
