Doing some research for a dissertation in AI in Games Programming, any ideas for subject matter and suggested resources would be much appreciated! cheers.

Might I suggest you visit the University of Alberta''s computer science web site. Here''s the link to the AI group: http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~ai/

Check out the games subgroup of this team. That''s a good starting point.
