You can redeem yourself.
What do the players do (not in an abstract game-world soft of way, but rather what do they control, and how? To what end?)?

Thanks for the answers - they help.

I agree rasing bacteria or the like would be boring. However so is rasing a kid (or your brother or sister) is well! If you had done so 600+ years ago then perhaps you would be playing D&D! And well jump back a couple million years and well your in Jurassic Park.

What this project is trying to get at is quite different - it is asking its players to jump on to a distant planet and start life from the beginning there - yeah exobiotic soup. Ok yes it must begin with single cells. The rest of the world grows from there - and it we want you to control it!

The question that this game is asking (most good games have some kind of question behind them) returns to Sagan as asks you what life outside earth would be like. We are asking whether you would like to play life to alive.

The use of the word ''cluster'' fits in two venues

1) The game is being casted on a free floating planet in a Globular Cluster

2) Part of the game operates using a cluster of computers

More? I have no time to check spelling or grammer so please do not comment on these matters

Actually... Right to the left of the "Reply to Topic" button, is a button designed specially for those hasty persons such as you... It''s called "Spell Check"... Try it sometimes, it really works!

As for the information you supplied: I''m going to take some time to follow those URL''s you supplied us with... Soo... Expect me back soon

Hey,

I played a game a while back called SimLife. You started out with single cell organisms and tried to work your way to complex life. You controlled every aspect of the planet.. gases, climate, yadda yadda yadda.... It was an incredibly complex mess. Not to mention it came with a 300 page manual. I dont know if your game gets down to this level of detail, but if so for the love of god figure out a way to present it simply to the player.

sounds interesting though.

Now, I happened to like SimLife quite a bit, and I didn''t find it overly complex at all! Though I did dive straight into having the Tricords evolve into intelligence--that was a challenge, but I got the hang of it eventually. Once they flew away I kept having new races evolve every few millenia and then they flew away too! It was getting to be quite the crowded galaxy out there...

Grammer?

Grammar?

not to mention- grammar isn't "spelling".. grammar is the study of how words and their component parts combine to form sentences or the study of structural relationships in language or in a language, sometimes including pronunciation, meaning, and linguistic history.

this post had no point, but i had to say something

Oops. *quietly walks off and eats humble pie*
[Should have used the spell check function as well]

Not sure if that was referring to the same reference but if so the grammer(sic) reference wasn''t pointing out spelling mistakes (of which there were none). What it was pointing out (rather childishly in retrospect) was that the composition of the words didn''t adhere to the system of rules which define the structural relationships of the english language.

However, it was meant to point out the lack of professionalism in the post but ended up as a pretty low hit and I have to apologise for that.
