And what software they use for the design?

Nobody would know unless they've worked on the game. Games can range from thousands to hundreds of thousands of lines of code and even more depending on the scope of the game, the language used along with the tools, and even the skill level of the programmers involved.

Riot Games uses their own in house engine. Lima Beans on their forums confirmed the following back in 2009:

"

we use at least the following languages here
C++ (the core game is written in this)
Lua (core game)
C# (game tools)
ActionScript (game hud and pvp.net)
Java (platform servers)
Erlang (platform servers)
Php/sql (web team / platform)

"

If something has changed since I wouldn't know.

Outside of concepting, the characters are 3D models which have hand painted (using a tablet) textures on them. This could be done in any application that allows polygon modeling, and texture painting. There is also a mix of zBrush for sculpting as seen in their video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osnTFCm1hlc

As I don't work there I can assume they use Autodesk's products for 3D modeling and animation, and maybe something else for the VFX (spells and such). They also use zBrush as well. I do recall seeing 3DS Max in one of their videos.

It really doesn't make a difference because there are lots of tools out there that can produce such results.

@undefined but about how many lines?

What is the reason you're asking for the line count of the source code?

@nestor2409 good source code has as much lines as needed but as less lines as possible while still being well formatted and readable. Good enougth answer?

@undefined Only because I would to know if I can create a game such as Lol but a slightly mediocre game.

Are you kidding? That's not at all a useful metric to tell whether you'd be able to make something similar. Do you just want to know it in terms of time taken to type in an average line of code?
