Hi, Do games today directed at Geforce 2 tend to use 1024x1024 textures or 512x512? If geforce 2 games are still using 512x512, what about Geforce 3? I know that it depends on everything but just want a general estimate on games today targeted at those video cards. I''d really appreciate any help Thanks alot in advance

very few games use textures higher then 256x256, some will use 512x512 (like ut for sky boxes). terran engines also tend to use larger textures. best bet is to not go higher then 256x256 unless you really need to since the smaller the textures the more you can fit into video memoeyr for more varity.

Ok then. Thanks alot for the help. Seems like a very detailed texture game right now is Max Payne? They use 256x256 too?
no, many games use detail textures (textures that are applied over the origninal texture to add detail effects like roughess). so textures are greater then that especially when using the highest texture settings. this is why many games allow you to control texture detail, so you can use higher res textures if availible.
Please, check the directx or opengl forum. They can say more about it.
