How Do Game Developers Scout For Composers?

Back in the old days, composers would send me demo reels (usually on CD) via snailmail, and they'd pile up on my desk. When I had a free moment, I felt obligated to at least listen to them even though it was going to be months until I needed music. Nowadays emails with links are much easier to ignore.

That could be part of it.

A lot of indies bring on music person in the beginning, and they have nothing to do for a long time.

The way my guy works is he wants a full list of everything, so he can knock it out all at once. doing sound piecemeal can get tedious.

Also, Sound is not a core skill, meaning, it's possible to make a game with no or limited sound. Also there are free sounds online.
