The artist I have working for will be taking a class to learn PhotoShop. Is there a clone out there that he can use while I try to get the funds to buy the real deal?
If at first you don't succeed, use profanity and try, try again.
I think there is a trimmed down version. Photoshop Elements I think. Other than that Paint Shop Pro from Jasc Software has many of the same features for much less.

Here''s another free paint program, it''s not the same as photoshop but it''s free and it''s actually pretty good. It''s name is Pixia.

Download it Here

Okey, my answer may seem obvious but i gotta say it.

gIMP!
Is out there, it has almost anything you can find on Photoshop, its free (gpl i think), and its getting better every release.

There is a *nix version as well as a win32 version.

Sorry for the doubled post.

I also agree with the others, you should try JASC Paint Shop Pro or Pixia.

Thanks! I appreciate your help.

Get Corel DRAW/Photopaint 7 or 8.. you can pick it up off ebay for less then $20 often times..

there is little you can do with photoshop that you can''t do with corel photopaint.

and if he learns draw... you can do a LOT with vector graphics.
I downloaded GIMP, and it really looks different than the others out there. I sent my artist the program and as much documentation as I could find on the official site. Does anyone know of other tutorials for GIMP?

Just type GIMP into some Searchengine (http://www.google.com)...

You will find lot''s of tutorials out there, I''m sure.
