I''ve read the GPL, and I don''t really see anything about using stuff written under the GPL for commercial purposes. Not using source, but using the app itself, like GIMP.
Can I use GIMP to create art for use in a commercial game?
I like the DARK layout!

In any case, you cannot use .GIF format, because it is licensed.
