You might be better finding an experienced person to learn with, as teaming up with a beginner can cause you to teach eachother bad practices.

The forums here are usually a good place to bounce ideas around, check your assumptions and the likes of that.

There are a few books that you should consider purchasing too. They''re not cheap, but are well worth it. A good idea would be to go through the Featured Resource section of www.flipcode.com, check out the books and the comments on them.
