Hi, Tried doing a search but if anyone who uses Truespace or Animation Master, or both has any opinion on which ones to get I would very much like to hear them. I am currently looking into getting either Truespace v3 or v4 or animation master for creating game art and would like to know which of the two to get. Since I'm a hobbyist game developer spending $300 is a big investment and would like to know before jumping on board with either product. I do like the Animation Master SDK and their support and service staff are responsive and friendly. I'm currently d/ling the Truespace demos and will check them out. Oh and tailors well to beginners. I'm still waiting to break my anti-piracy rules to my current team and may find myself out on my own. So I may have to learn to model so which one would be a good modeller for a beginner. Thanks in advance. HighEnd ---- "Becoming a game developer from scratch..." http://www.highendgaming.com [edited by - HighEnd on June 16, 2002 6:57:45 PM]

trueSpace 3 was given away for free on PC PLUS (sold by Future Publishing a year or two ago. If you search the forums you can find where I said which issue it was exactly in an earlier post. Future Publishing does sell back issues, I think it would be somewhere between $10-$25 US dollars, can''t be sure since the magazine is sold in pounds, and I was buying it in Canadian Dollars.

Thxs I was first trying to do a search, and hope I did not offend you. I kept getting a timeout problem where it would just go on forever. Do you recommend Truespace3? Is it easy to use? Thx for the heads up.

I bought trueSpace 4.3 direct from Caligari for just over $200(US) including shipping, mostly because it was about the most reasonable price I could find that was still considered "professional" grade. Sure, it''s not 3DS, but the 3DS educational price is over $600!

Now, I''m very much a beginner at this art thing (whether you''re talking 3D or 2D), but I''ve felt pretty comfortable jumping into trueSpace so far. I''ve just been using the manual to learn the interface while I also try to learn 3D modelling, and I seem to be picking it up fairly well. Compared to what I''ve seen of 3DS, trueSpace is almost simple, but you can still pull of some nice looking renderings.

That''s maybe not quite the perspective you''re looking for, but from one beginner to another, I''d definitely reccomend trueSpace. I have a feeling that at some point (assuming I do manage to become a successful game developer) I''ll be better served moving to 3DS, but you can''t beat the prices on trueSpace right now.
