Week of Awesome: Day 2

Howdy fellow developers,

So today I had the entire day to spend on this awesome competition. I've only been able to create my main character and some basic animations. Being a programmer, I'm quite proud of the character I managed to create. Using 3DS Max's CAT, creating animations was super easy! As I have to get up early for work this morning I'll keep this entry short, so without further ado:

The fur shader that I talked about in my previous entry luckily hides the fact that I can't texture at all! It's also not very visible at the moment, I need to play around with the lighting for that.

I hope you enjoyed this entry and as always, feel free to leave a comment or ask questions.

Nice animations, did you make them yourself or are you using a unity built in? if you did them yourself I wouldnt mind seeing your control rig.

Thank you all for your kind words, really pushes me to get everything in there before the deadline.

The rig and running animation were created by using a tool called CAT in 3DS Max. It allows you to easily create a rig and procedurally generate walking and running animations based on some parameters. I modified the run animation a little by applying an additional layer of animation on top of the generated animation. This was a sort of offset layer, where I made the character lean forward a bit. The idle and jump(not shown, for good reasons tongue.png) animations were done by hand. I've attached an image of the rig to the entry, is that what you were looking for?
